RDR BradyGames Guide Review

We at gtaIVlife have been enjoying Red Dead Redemption for the past few weeks as many others of you and so were delighted to be asked to review the Official Game Guide from Brady Games, read our thoughts below.

They say that behind every great man is a great woman however in the world of video games I prefer the expression behind every great game is a great guide and Red Dead Redemption is no different. Weighing in at a hefty 330+ pages, Brady Games have clearly set out to offer the most comprehensive guide however can this guide go beyond the standard mission guide and provide that truly comprehensive insight gamers are looking for?

First and foremost this guide is obviously primarily a mission guide and damn good one at that. Each mission is given a comprehensive breakdown including images and maps as well as the main objectives of each mission, unlockables and the fail conditions. These guides are easy to follow and arm the player with all the information needed to get through even the toughest of missions however that is not to so that skill is still required.

Is response to the question posed earlier the answer is yes, yes this guide can go above and beyond the call of duty of a standard mission strategy guide. Starting with a beginners guide to the workings of Red Dead Redemption, throughout the guide you will find a continuous stream of added details from character profiles to an insight to the weaponry of Red Dead Redemption it all combines to give the player a true understanding of the game something many may find difficult without.  Side missions, challenges and mini games also get a thorough going over with everything explained from how to unlock the latest outfits and extras to making that killer shot while hunting to achieving victory in an arm wrestle or a game of horseshoes and just about everything in between.

Multiplayer is an area of interest for many and although the guide does provide a brief overview of the modes expected and what they entail I would have liked to see slightly more in the way of a multi player guide however due to this being primarily a single player mission guide it seems unfair to knock the inclusion of a multiplayer guide albeit a short one, a nice addition however as they felt compelled to include it I would have preferred to see slightly more from it.

Brady Games have always been the number one choice when it comes to game guides and with this offering for Red Dead Redemption it is easy to see why this is the case. Clear, concise and damn right useful this guide offers the gamer the perfect companion guide to their journey through the wild frontiers of Red Dead Redemption. The littering of added extras such as insights into the weapons and characters you will encounter on your journey add to the guide’s already great appeal. Assistance is terms of Multiplayer may disappoint slightly however the mere inclusion shows a clear commitment from Brady Games and Rockstar to provide the player with not only the tools and knowledge necessary to make it through the game with limited set backs but to also provide them with a greater understanding on the game itself and what it involves.

A great addition for those Red Dead Diehards out there looking for a ‘travel’ companion through their personal Red Dead Redemption experience providing clear and concise instructions to transform you to the gaming Sundance Kid in no time.
